Goose Pond Colony
Goose Pond Colony is a resort located in Scottsboro and its municipal park rests on a 368-acre peninsula offering golf, camping, cottages, lodge, restaurant, picnicking, pool, nature trails, marina with a boat launch and an amphitheater. On top of the plenty of activities they have on a day-to-day basis, there are also a number of events that take place here throughout the month. Go ahead, book a tee time!
Lake Guntersville State Park
This 6,000 acre park located along the shore of Lake Guntersville, offers camping, lodging, hiking, biking, horse trails, boat rentals, ziplining, fishing, swimming, an 18-hole golf course, nature/activity building, a full service restaurant, cottages, chalets and much more! If that’s not enough, this is also a great place to spot a bald eagle, as this endangered species’ population is increasing in the area due to the park’s conservation efforts. Late November also begins the annual Christmas at the Falls event that features millions of lights and beautiful holiday decorations lining the park. Woodvale’s Cathedral Caverns is a bucket list location, for sure! This stunning state park takes guests breath away immediately upon entering with its huge opening to the caverns that measures 126 feet wide and 25 feet high. Inside the caverns you’ll find a large stalagmite forest, a frozen waterfall, and one of the largest stalagmites in the world. There are tons of tours available throughout the day that will give you insight into some of the history of the cave. After all, human habitation can be traced back 8,000 years inside!
