Maintain Your Unit: Make sure your air conditioner is running efficiently, by scheduling your yearly AC tune-up before the heat hits. Just like your car, your HVAC equipment should be inspected yearly to improve overall efficiency and the inside comfort of your home.
Keep Your AC Running: It may seem more cost-efficient to only turn your AC on when you get home from work or when it feels too warm, but this could end up costing you in the long run. When the temperature gets to 90 degrees or higher, excess warmth and moisture will accumulate in your home if you turn off the AC. Then, when you turn it back on, your AC will have to work even harder to remove the extra heat and humidity in your house.
Change Your Air Filters: During heavy use months, such as the summer, it is important to check your air filters every month. If your filters look dirty, make sure to change them. A dirty air filter restricts air flow, making your AC unit work even harder. The typical rule is that, at a minimum, air filters should be changed every three months.
