7 Habits of People With Extremely Clean Homes

While not many people love to clean, we can all appreciate coming home to a clean house! Keeping a clean home does not mean deep cleaning every week, although for many of us, that’s what ends up happening. Cleaning can be much more enjoyable if you take a few minutes each day to incorporate little steps into your daily routine. These small steps will soon turn into habits that will keep your home clean at all times.

1. Make the Bed

There are two types of people in this world: those that make their bed everyday and those that don’t. If you’re one that does not, you need to start! Making your bed every day will contribute to a much cleaner-looking home. It’s also proven that getting into a bed that’s made at night will help you go to sleep easier.

2. Put Things Back

If everything in your home doesn’t have a designated place, that needs to change. Having a clutter-free home is a HUGE part of keeping your house extremely clean. Keep clutter at bay by putting items you use back where they belong when you’re done with them. This way, when you deep clean your home every once in a while, you have less stuff to put away before you actually get to cleaning. Also, clutter harbors dirt, dust, and other allergens, so the less clutter you have, the cleaner your space actually is.

3. Tidy Up

Along with keeping clutter down, you should also regularly tidy up your home. This means wiping down countertops before you leave a room, cleaning out sinks and tubs regularly, wiping the stovetop after cooking, and picking up any trash you see as you go about your house. You should also dust in different areas of your home daily so dust doesn’t build up over time. This is also a great way to keep odors at bay.

4. Wash Dishes

If you’re like most, after cooking dinner you don’t want to clean dishes. However, if you want to keep a clean home, you need to! A great way to keep up with dishwashing is to keep your dishwasher cleaned out. This way you can put dishes in there as you’re cooking and immediately when you’re done cooking. Once the dishwasher is full, start it and unload it the next morning. Keeping your dishes clean will stop smelly odors from arising in your home and keep you from having to do the extra scrubbing of stuck-on grime and food.

5. Go Over Floors

Floors go through A LOT and regularly collect pet hair, pollen, dirt, and so many other particles. Regularly going over your floors with a vacuum, mop, or broom will keep these particles from piling up and making your home look dirty. Regularly cleaning your floors will also keep your air quality cleaner.

6. Clean Out

Cleaning out your closet, fridge, and pantry on a regular basis makes a huge difference in the cleanliness of your home overtime. As you obtain more stuff, your home becomes more crowded and cluttered with things you may no longer need, or no longer have a space for. Regularly donate old clothes, old toys of your kids’, and anything else you no longer use. Also, go through your pantry and fridge and throw away expired foods that may otherwise get pushed to the back overtime and contribute to smelly odors and bacteria.

7. Air Purification

While all the tips above will help contribute to the cleanliness of your home’s air, the best way to get clean, healthy air for your home and your family is to invest in an air purification system. The systems offered by Bunns & Bennett can eliminate airborne particles, allergens, bacteria, and viruses from the air in your home.
